What does it take to reach those in hard places for the Gospel?
During my trip to Southeastern Asia, I learned that the answer is simply: "alot." To expound upon this answer, I would propose that reaching these people groups requires time, talents, and treasures to be stewarded with excellence and utilized with precision.
Time
In order to get to unreached groups in Southeastern Asia, countless hours of planning, shopping, scheduling, and praying must be exhausted before the trip itself has even began. Then, one must fly a total of roughly 30 hours just to reach the regional missionary hub. Then one must procure transportation to the particular people group or island that he or she is attempting to reach with the Gospel. For our team, we planned to reach a tiny island off the coast of one of the major islands in the region, and the only way to reach this island is by purchasing a ticket on an overnight transport boat mainly used by laborers who are going to the island to farm or fish.
So, after around 4 days of travel and transportation, we finally reached the island where we would begin sharing the Gospel with unreached people groups, made up of primarily Muslims. Reaching hard places takes alot of time!
Talents
Once on site, our team began to use to the spiritual gifts of discernment, evangelism, teaching, and other areas of giftedness to share the Gospel, train new believers in church multiplication strategy, and gather as much useful research as possibly on the region and the people to assist with continuing outreach. This requires a team of individuals who God has gifted with a certain skillset in order to be effective in this foreign context. Gospel movement can only endure when the lost are evangelized, believers are equipped, and churches are established. This requires knowledge and talent!
Treasures
One trip of 3 weeks costs around $3500 per person, and this is just to make contact with people groups and gather enough research/contact information to foster continuing work in the area, such as mid-term and long-term missionary presence to facilitate the planting of local churches. In simple terms: hard places cannot be reached without adaquete resources. We believer that God will continue to provide the financial support necesary for our family to continue to pursue the Great Commission worldwide, and would love for you to be our partner in this amazing mission. Click the "Get Involved" page to access our ministry partnership page, or fill out a contact form to set up a prospective ministry partner appointment! I would love the opportunity to sit down with you and talk about our vision and how you can become a vital part of the Gospel going to the nations simply through generosity.
